Rumor: Demon's Souls 2 listed for Playstation 4

Back in 2009 From Software  surprised everybody with  Demon’s Souls. From Software developed the game and Sony owned the IP so the game was, obviously, exclusive for Playstation 3 . The title was a sleep hit  acclaimed by critics and gamers.

Two years later, From Software developed a spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls: Dark Souls. This time the IP was not in Sony’s hands and the title was released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Now, the name of Demon’s Souls is appearing all over the internet.

This week, CDON, a Swedish retail store, listed the sequel of Demon’s Souls for Playstation 4.

It could be a simple mistake, but the interesting thing here is that Demon’s Souls 2 has been “hinted” for a while by some NeoGAF insiders and by Hideiko  Yoshida (Sony Worldwide Studios head).

That’s a great question, but because of the attention that will get, I choose not to answer,” Yoshida told Polygon when asked about a possible sequel.

“But personally, I love Demon’s Souls. I spent hours and hours and hours [playing it].

“I love the team, I love the game and yeah, I’d really like to see more. But that’s all that I will say.

Does the world really need Demon’s Souls AND Dark Souls? I mean, they’re basically the same…so unless Dark Souls isn’t going to make the jump to this upcoming generation I don’t know if Demon’s Souls is really necessary.

I would LOVE LOVE to see Demon’s Souls 2, Dark Souls is good, but they are different enough.

Before we had seen much of Dark Souls 2, I had been hoping for a Demon’s Souls sequel instead. Now that we’ve seen a bit of the game, it looks and feels a lot like the world design and story telling of Demon’s anyway. It’ll be great if they find a good balance between the parts of Demon’s that were better and the upgrades in Darks like crafting, weapons and armour sets and combat mechanics.
