Update: Leaked info from Famitsu reveals many details of the new title of the franchise.

Etrian Odyssey: Lady of the Millenium (Shin Sekaiju no Meikyuu – Millennium no Shoujo) will be released  on June 27 for Nintendo 3DS in Japan. The game is a remake of the first game in the series, which was originally released for Nintendo DS. According to the images from the scans, the game could be using the same engine as Etrian Odyssey IV.

This remake will feature expanded story scenario and voice acting. Yuzo Koshiro will be the composer and Shigeo Komori wil be the director of the game.

Etrian Odyssey saga was born in 2.006 for Nintendo DS. Since then four games have been released for Nintendo hanhelds: three for Nintendo DS and the last one for Nintendo 3DS. Is not risky to assume that the next game of the franchise will be for a Nintendo machine.

Shigeo Komori, director of the second part, is one of the big names within the franchise. Atlus twitted a message from him:

1364218223 x2 Rumor: New Etrian Odyssey. (Update: Confirmed. Etrian Odyssey 1 remake for 3DS) | VGLeaks 2.0

[Mr. Komori] Good evening everyone. It’s been three years since EOIII. The next game that I have been working with as director is nearing its completion.
We have aimed to make a new EO, with many experiments, so I will be glad if not only EO fans, but also those who have not been in the past, will take a look at the announcement on the 28th!

Details  will be in Famitsu this week, as Atlus has confirmed:

1364218222 x1 Rumor: New Etrian Odyssey. (Update: Confirmed. Etrian Odyssey 1 remake for 3DS) | VGLeaks 2.0

Long time no see everyone! It’s been nine months now since the release of “Etrian Odyssey IV”, and we will announce the next development in the series this week.
Details will be in this week’s April 11 Famitsu (released March 28th), so please take a look.

Rumors are starting to spread all over the internet, and one of them is really interesting: this could be the first Etrian Odyssey not coming for a Nintendo hanheld.

WiiU time?

By the way, if you are old enough you may be familiar with the name of Yuzo Koshiro. When I was a kid I enjoyed absolutely all the themes he composed for Streets of Rage. Today he is the main composer of the Etrian Odyssey franchise 😉
