At Insomniac Games, the most anticipated upcoming title is the Wolverine adventure set in the Spider-Man universe. If the studio’s plans stay on track with previously leaked details, we might also see a significant DLC or smaller game featuring Venom or a similar character.

The big news, however, is a shift in leadership roles at Insomniac and The Initiative—the Microsoft studio collaborating with Crystal Dynamics to revive Joanna Dark in Perfect Dark. According to GameFile, Brian Horton, who was the Creative Director for Marvel’s Wolverine, has left Insomniac to take on the same role at Perfect Dark. Marcus Smith will replace him. Leadership of the Wolverine game has also changed hands, with Cameron Christian being replaced by Mike Daly.

Brian Horton had previous experience at Infinity Ward and Crystal Dynamics. Cameron Christian remains at Insomniac, although his new role has not been defined. A Sony representative confirmed these changes, but declined to comment on the reasons behind them. GameFile suggests that creative differences may be at the heart of the matter.

This shift is unusual and places Insomniac’s main team at the helm of Wolverine, with Marcus Smith, who directed all of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, now leading the project. Mike Daly, a key figure in recent studio titles as a Lead Designer or Game Director, will also play a pivotal role.

Whether or not this change is a sign of development challenges remains unclear, but it seems to suggest a restructuring aimed at refocusing the project.

Thanks, GameFile.
