We remain convinced that some day Square-Enix will release Final Fantasy X HD for Playstation 3 and PS Vita, but the wait is being really, really long.

Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 was a debacle for S-E and all of its teams were forced to help with the development of 2.0. They needed to make FFXIV: A Realm Reborn a really successful product. Too much seemed to be at stake and many other projects were stopped, including this HD remake of the first Final Fantasy directed by Toriyama.

But S-E knew there would be a problem to release FFX HD in the USA: SCEA does not allow to launch a single remaster on a BluRay. The disc must contain, at least, two HD remaster. That’s why we don’t have a retail copy of Okami and we do have a physical copy for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

That’s why this rumor sounds quite logical: Final Fantasy X-2 HD will be joining FFX HD on the same BluRay disc. That’s for the PS3 version, supposedly this won’t happen with the PS Vita version and each game will arrive on a separate cartridge.

Each title is said to also include the expanded International version content and a release is schedule for some time in 2013.
