In all the chaos of computer console and mobile gaming it is easy to forget that PC gaming is still very much in the main stream these days. Here is our look at the PC games you have to play during 2016.
Routine
The first game on this list might not even have been released yet but having been four years in development it is one of the most hotly-anticipated games set to be launched on the PC this year by developer Lunar Software.
It is a first person horror game where players must navigate their way around an abandoned moon base where they encounter some terrifying things. Players are tasked with the job of trying to find out what happened to everyone on the Lunar Research Station and understand why they all mysteriously disappeared. A computer game has not generated such a buzz for its eeriness since the original Silent Hill was released back in 1999. Fans of the horror movie Event Horizon will also appreciate the terror that reigns and this could go down as a classic desktop computer game.
Football Manager 2016
The 2016 European Championship has captured the imagination of football fans across Europe and if there is one game that has achieved cult status amongst football fans across the world then it is this release by Sega. The Football Manager series has been a mainstay in the computer gaming industry allowing players to take on the dream of managing their favourite football clubs from around the world.
This latest version cranked things up another level by letting players choose teams from 51 playable nations with a database of more than 300,000 players. The tactics, set piece creator, and match analysis tools have all been given an overhaul and it has even been confirmed that some real-life professional football clubs and scouts use the search engine tool to find players to scout in real-life. This is a must try for any football fan.
Tom Clancy’s The Division
It is fantastic to see the Tom Clancy novels are still having a huge impact on the computer gaming market. Ever since the release of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six back in 1998, the franchise has been a popular choice across the globe for players that love their shoot ’em ups with a tactical and storyline edge.
The series might not reach the epic heights of the Half Life series but this is a stand-out franchise that focuses on counter-terror units in a way never before seen. The graphics continue to make huge advancements and the game play is as addictive as ever. Ubisoft have released this latest version and it has been received superbly. Monthly updates with added content ensure the game will not lose any appeal. It made an estimated $330 million across the globe and the Tom Clancy franchise is very much back at the top of the pile.
Poker Night 2
Here is one for the casino players. Poker Night 2 is the follow-up title to the successful Poker Night that was developed by Telltale Games. This is a slight twist on your average PC poker game because this is not simply just playing poker at a table. There is far more depth to this title than meets the eye.
Players experience the delight of seeing their favourite characters crossing over from other well-known games to all meet and play a game of poker. Characters included in this edition of the game include Sam from Sam & Max, Brock Samson from The Venture Bros, Claptrap from Borderlands, and Ash Williams from The Evil Dead. There are also some brilliant cameos from games such as The Walking Dead and Gravity Bone. The humour and banter at the tables adds another element to the gameplay and this might not be one for the Texas Hold’em and Omaha Hold’em purists but it certainly delivers enjoyment on several levels.
Within the casino world, poker is still that one game that continues to dominate. You can play on land based casinos, online casinos and now you can even play on the go. Player’s online love the buzz they gain from online poker, but with loads of sites in the market- which one can you trust? One site that is trustworthy and provides a great buzz is 888 Poker. If you want to find out why it’s popular check out this 888 Poker resource from CardsChat.com to find out more.
Far Cry: Primal
The original Far Cry game was seen as a huge success back in 2004. Ubisoft have taken a unique approach with this latest edition and taken the plot back to pre-historic times. It was a massive gamble but it appears to have paid off with critics giving the title very positive reviews since its release during the first quarter of 2016.
In this latest version of the game, players must take on their character in the pre-historic world where woolly mammoths and sabre-toothed tigers are your enemies along with other neanderthals. Players must learn their skills and use their environment to survive. This is a complete switch around from using guns and vehicles to progress. It is a new challenge and a fresh angle but it is certainly one that appears to have won over the huge Far Cry fan base.
