Ubisoft is doubling down on what works — meaning its biggest franchises — and cutting anything that doesn’t fit that strategy. Just days ago, the company announced a major restructuring, and several projects currently in development have now been sent to the graveyard.
Before getting into the specific titles affected, it’s worth clarifying that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, while the long-troubled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has officially been cancelled.
Courtesy of Insider Gaming, here’s the list of projects reportedly scrapped by Ubisoft:
- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake – Announced in 2020 and now cancelled.
- Project Aether – In development since 2019, reportedly rebooted at some point, possibly led by Ubisoft Halifax.
- Project Pathfinder – Previously known as Project U.
- Project Crest – A World War II extraction shooter.
- Assassin’s Creed Rebellion – Development halted.
- Assassin’s Creed Singularity – A mobile title that was also planned for PC. Reportedly in development for a couple of years.
These cancellations are confirmed, but there are also reports suggesting that an Assassin’s Creed multiplayer project has been canned as well.
Thanks, IG.
