Last August we witnessed a very significant and not very pleasing fact for gamers: Sony announced an increase in the price of PlayStation 5 in almost all the world.
Nintendo and Microsoft have remained, for the moment, on the sidelines with respect to similar actions. However, in the case of Microsoft, Phil Spencer (head of the Xbox brand) may have given us some clues about the company’s future actions in this regard.
Yesterday, during a Wall Street Journal Live event, Phil Spencer let slip that Microsoft has made efforts to maintain the prices of its Xbox Series consoles or its successful Game Pass service, but that these could be affected by a price hike.
"We've held price on our console, we've held price on games… and our subscription. I don't think we'll be able to do that forever. I do think at some point we'll have to raise some prices on certain things…" pic.twitter.com/jRt5ifKpE5

At the moment there is not much more information on the matter. The global context has not been the best for some time, but let’s hope that companies can always keep the price as tight as possible for the benefit of gamers.
Time will tell.
Stay tuned.
