The iconic Lara Croft was born in the year 1996 thanks to Core Design. That mix of precise jumps, platforms, action and the thrill for the adventure was a success. The rest is just part of the story of this industry.
A pre-alpha version of Tomb Raider 1 has appeared on Youtube. The footage shows subtle changes comparing to the retail version of Tomb Raider:
– The alpha does not show a specific level is more a collection of chambers and chasms very similar to the Vilcabamba level.
– Lara sported her braid and her sunglasses in this alpha.
– Dual aim ability.
– Different camera settings: zoom and a strange pan mechanic.
– Different jump animation (Matrix style).
A nice piece of history for the beginnings of Tomb Raider.
Thanks, Tomb Raider.
