We’re no strangers to regular acquisition rumors in the gaming industry, but this one has been circulating for a while and might eventually materialize. It concerns the potential sale of Warner Bros. assets to a third party.

According to SEScoops, Sony is reportedly interested in acquiring Warner Bros.’ streaming business and video game assets—provided they are separated from the cable networks division.

It’s worth noting that on June 9, Warner Bros. Discovery announced a split into WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks. This move could make it easier to sell the company in parts, although that’s not necessarily the goal. In addition, Warner Bros. Games has recently restructured to form new divisions centered around key pillars.

We’ll see what happens. Sony has been involved in various moves lately, and it’s likely only a matter of time before they make a new acquisition—though, for now, this remains just a rumor.

Thanks, IG.
