An anonymous source has stated to Develop that a new Crackdown announcement will be made at Xbox’s E3 Press Conference today.
However, the details are not clear at all. The announcement could even be a pointing to a remastering of the 2007 original, but it’s most likely to be a new entry in the series for Xbox One and, possibly, also for Xbox 360.
In any case, Crackdown 3 has been rumored many times, even Phil Spencer talked about this a few months ago:
When I think about the technology we’re putting into Xbox One specifically around some of the cloud functionality, there’s a real opportunity to take an open world game like Crackdown that allowed you to play with your friends, and roam to all corners of the city and still feel like you’re playing together.
There’s a real neat opportunity to bring that genre and game forward onto the new generation.
In fact, Spencer suggested they were looking for a new developer in the UK to work on Crackdown 3:
There was a nice UK sensibility to the way the game was developed. I think that’s important to the franchise as well.
As if this were not enough, last year, during Microsoft’s Xbox One presentation, the company could have hinted the game.

Microsoft’s E3 conference is close. Stay tuned.
