Over the last few days, the internet has been flooded with numerous GTA VI leaks, real leaks and not AI-generated ones if we take into account how aggressively Rockstar has acted to minimize the leak by trying to remove the leaked content. Gameplay footage and even the game’s map have been leaked.
Let’s go step by step:
The leak
They call themselves Cyberleek. It could be an individual or a group, we don’t really care. The goal of this Robin Hood is to punish publishers that don’t treat players properly by offering digital pre-orders and content that is actually already on the disc but must be unlocked with an additional payment. Also, to punish the lack of preservation of this art.
Polygon believes that Cyberleek could be in possession of a playable copy of Grand Theft Auto VI. This wouldn’t simply be a case of leaked videos; it could go much further.
Gameplay
This exposure that Rockstar’s lawyers are trying to contain has allowed us to obtain new details about the title. In bullet points:
- Jason appears in all the videos and it looks like this is content from the beginning of the game.
- Development build. Keep in mind that the weapon selection wheel or the interface itself won’t be final. In fact, it looks like something unfinished simply used to move development forward.
- Jason can play basketball. He can be seen picking up a ball and scoring a basket, with actual gameplay mechanics to perform these actions. It looks like we can improve certain stats, very GTA San Andreas.
- In one of the leaks, Jason can be seen driving, having an accident and attacking the other driver with a wrench. This activates a 2-star police wanted level out of a total of 6.
- Police identification: apparently, they can track Jason on three levels: clothing, vehicle and what appear to be certain visual features such as his face or hair. Changing these elements will probably help us escape from the cops. There are also indicators showing police proximity and our stealth level (they should indicate our actual exposure to the police).
- It looks like we have some kind of stamina meter that gradually runs out as Jason loses his grip. Once depleted, a visual indicator tells us that we are running on empty.
- Karma system. It appears when Jason hits the unconscious man lying on the ground.
- Two selection wheels, one for weapons and another for items. There is also a shortcut system for things like health items or medkits, similar to GTA Online.
- A system to interact with NPCs.
