After Days Gone (2019), we’ve heard little from Bend Studio. We’ve often fantasized about a sequel to their zombie game, but it looks like they’re going in a different direction.
Apparently, Bend Studio has been working on a new game for about five years, and a recent leak may have revealed a lot more about it.
Images of what appears to be Bend Studios’ new game have surfaced online.
It looks like the game will be an open-world third-person shooter that will use gameplay mechanics from the world of Days Gone, but this time opting for a military theme. The project would be a live service game.
It’s important to mention where the footage comes from: these screenshots come from the portfolio of a UI designer who worked at Bend Studios from 2022 until March. The footage could be from between 2022 and 2023.
Looking at the screenshots, there seems to be no doubt about the approach. We see guns, rifles, wardrobes to store them, XP systems, and even green and blue areas that seem to be the cover points to be used in the game.
And it’s reminiscent of Syphon Filter, though maybe it’s not. But we see references to nanomachines in the UI and we can’t help but make the comparison in our heads.
Whatever it is, we’ll keep an eye out for more to come. Both The Game Awards 2024 tonight and the hypothetical State of Play in early 2025!
Stay tuned!
