Phil Spencer recently went to the Bloomberg offices and left headlines and lines that can open up speculation. When Phil or Nadella talk about Xbox you have to listen.
In the Bloomberg interview, Phil Spencer comments that they are pleased with the results after releasing the first set of video games for Sony and Nintendo consoles. In fact, what’s interesting about the interview is that he goes further and comments that there are ‘no red lines’ for future games that can be released outside of the Xbox ecosystem.
I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say ‘thou must not’
This implies that they haven’t even decided yet on which platforms the next Halo game will be released.
It’s too early to make any sort of decision on the next version of Halo.
On the other hand, we all know that Spencer has always liked Microsoft’s handheld option. And he talks about it too.
In the interview, he says that Microsoft has prototypes for its own handheld and that his focus right now is to look at the market, observe, and put what he thinks is necessary into the prototypes.
He doesn’t know if they will eventually launch a portable Xbox, but if they do, it’s still years away.
