It’s been a few years since the release of Mafia III, and while the franchise has seen a revival with a remake, a remaster, and a trilogy pack, die-hard fans are hungry for more. Fortunately, it seems that new developments are on the horizon.
Twitter user Kurakasis recently unearthed a trademark filing for a Mafia game, a typical precursor to an official announcement by publishers. This user has a track record of accurately predicting game announcements, having previously anticipated titles such as Metro Awakening and Marvel’s 1943: Rise of Hydra.
Previous leaks and reports regarding the Mafia series have hinted at exciting possibilities. Kotaku previously leaked information about a prequel set in Sicily in 1930, with Tommy Angelo rumored to be the main character. Additionally, a job listing surfaced detailing a multiplatform title developed using Unreal Engine 5, with gameplay aspects focusing on “engagement, stealth, and combat gameplay loops.”
