Both the industry and consumers eagerly anticipate the unveiling of Nintendo’s Switch successor, following the immense success of the original console. Recent reports suggest that Nintendo may have internally rescheduled the release of their new system to the first months of 2025, foregoing a holiday launch. Today, more concrete details have emerged regarding the reasons behind this decision.

According to Nikkei, Nintendo is aiming for a March 2025 release for Switch 2 to allow developers extra time to complete their games and to prevent stock shortages, which are common during the holiday season. If these reports are accurate, Nintendo would be following a similar launch strategy to the original Switch, which debuted in March 2017.
