It seems that Capcom has switched the development of Resident Evil 4 Remake to its own Capcom’s Consumer Games Development Division 1. It appears that M-Two was developing RE 4 Remake since 2018. M-Two contributed during the Resident Evil 3 remake development, but now Capcom has decided to internally develop this project, reducing M-Two’s role.

This choice seems to be motivated by differences in the approach the remake should take. While M-Two proposed to develop a faithful RE 4 Remake, Capcom wanted to change (reboot) some key elements of the game, and produce a remake inspired by the original Resident Evil 4 game.

Due to this change in development, VGC’s sources claim that the Resident Evil 4 remake would be partially rebooted, with the launch date postponed to 2023.
