[Rumour] Switch 2 images and renders appear. Summary of specs in the article

Today’s internet is busy. Some images of the Nintendo Switch 2’s have surfaced, along with some renders that appear to come from, almost, the production line.

These images first appeared in China and then gained traction on sites like Reddit. Obviously we have to be cautious with this information, but why are we giving it any credit? Because it seems that many people in the gaming industry are commenting that this design fits with the details Nintendo has been offering internally about the Switch’s successor.

The design is remarkably similar to the original Nintendo Switch. Logical if Nintendo doesn’t want to reinvent the wheel this time around. There are subtle changes, like 2 USB-C ports (top and bottom), different triggers on the joycons. Also, the joycons seem to be magnetic.

Now, let’s summarize the Switch 2 specs that are already being given as very likely and approximate:

• Handheld mode: Somewhat above PS4 in power before applying DLSS
• Docked mode: Between PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S before DLSS was applied.
• RAM: Between 10.5 and 11 Gb of RAM available for gaming.
  A portion would be saved for the Switch 1 operating system to ensure proper backward compatibility between both machines.
  RAM would be slightly slower than PS5 or Xbox Series, but the system would have more available RAM than Xbox Series S.
• Two VERY important points to note: PS5 and Xbox Series consoles use AMD CPUs in their architecture. Nintendo Switch 2 would use an ARM CPU, so the comparison is not equivalent. It’s not apples to apples. 

  But, above all, Nintendo Switch 2 would feature Tensor cores that would allow it to use the best rescaling currently available in the world: Nvidia’s DLSS. This means that everything we listed above could be boosted by a huge amount, and bring games from low resolutions up to 4K with very good quality.
  Also, by saving resources in that area, that power could be put into other areas such as more graphical effects or improved framerate.
  

In any case, take all this with tons of salt! We can’t wait for official information to start coming out from Nintendo!
