Great time to play with the code sources of different retro systems. Some weeks ago code sources for N64, GameCube and Wii were leaked, today the turn is for Xbox, the first Microsoft console system.
Xbox code source includes the kernel for the OS, built as a custom version of Windows 2000. Microsoft has confirmed the leak and they are investigating the incident. This material could help to improve development of Xbox emulators. There are some like CXBX, XQEMU or CXBX, but those tools struggle to emulate the original Xbox OS and Kernel.
Microsoft has their own solution to emulate Xbox games, but of course is not an open software. If you are curious about this code source is not too hard to find it. If you know what I mean…
Thanks, The Verge.
