Rumor: Nintendo could reveal new hardware at E3 2014

Recently, many rumors have been appearing on the Internet suggesting that Nintendo will reveal new hardware at E3 2014.

The nature of this new hardware is, however, unclear. The Internet is commenting several possibilities like a redesigned WiiU GamePad or a new model of the 3DS, but what seems certain is the fact that Nintendo will reveal something at E3, at least if we pay attention to what IGN editor Jose Otero said on the latest episode of Nintendo Voice Chat.

We’ve heard rumors that Nintendo might be showing hardware at E3,

Peer Schneider added more fuel to the fire:

They’re absolutely going to show new hardware this year

No doubt in my mind that something… ‘Cause I’ve heard from multiple people now. I’ve heard from someone who used to be at Nintendo; I’ve heard it from somebody on the third-party front.

What do you think Nintendo is going to announce at E3 2014?

I doub’t it’s a new handheld. The 3DS has so much life left in it I think.

I also saw that patent about a controller with interchangeable controls.

I think we will see a new redesigned gamepad, a new Wii U SKU or some weird Nintendo Lifestyle unveil.

I really want them to use the ‘NESgen’ moniker in the future so I’m praying it’s not that…because they are far, far, far off the Golden Generation with what they’re churning out these days. It will probably be another 3DS or a Wii U Plus that no one will care about…as usual.

It is so OBVIOUS what this will be!!
A few weeks back Korea approved a new Nintendo hardware that was code named WIS-009 and the description was a compact video player!!

Nintendo can lose millions every years and still be around. They have quite the war chest. TBH I think they should just sit one out and release something powerful without too much gimmick (that said, innovation is still key and I for one like when interesting things are done with the second screen on the gamepad, Kinect or Move)
