There were rumors about a reboot for Soul Reaver license, but sadly, Crystal Dynamics is busy developing Rise of the Tomb Raider and Square-Enix has bet on Nosgoth, a free to play game based on Legacy of Kain lore.

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was a failed effort to take the license back to the main stage. Dead Sun was developed by Climax under the supervision of Crystal Dynamics during three years. The game was planned to be released on PS3 and Xbox 360 and Climax and Square Enix even studied the option to commercialize the game on PS4 as a launch title of this system.

The gameplay offered fast paced combats, platforms, puzzles, huge bosses and an insane amount of exploration. The jump was automatic (like Zelda), but was covered with puzzle dynamics.

Square-Enix decided to cancel the game for its low expectations (about sales).
