Bungie is currently undergoing a period of restructuring, following a round of layoffs, which is believed to have impacted their in-development titles. One of these projects might be a sci-fi action game.
According to Insider-Gaming and information from GirlGlitcher, veteran developer Jason Blundell could be leading a new studio within Sony, collaborating with Bungie on a new sci-fi action title. The rumor suggests that this game had already been in development at Bungie before Blundell joined the project. Notably, this new title would not be tied to Destiny or Marathon, but instead represents a completely new IP.
Blundell, known for his 10 years at Treyarch working on Call of Duty: Zombies, went on to co-found Deviation Games in 2020, which shut down in 2024. Earlier reports indicated that Sony had formed a new team with former Deviation staff to develop a fresh IP, though it was unclear if Blundell was involved—now, it seems he might be at the helm.
