That’s right, Insider Gaming echoes information from KeplerL2, a reliable source when it comes to AMD and hardware info, which states that the Xbox’s dedicated handheld has been cancelled.

Apparently, to execute the project, AMD required Microsoft to sign a contract to manufacture 10 million processors (SoC, for those more knowledgeable in this area). To put this into context, Steam Deck has sold around 5 million units, while other similar machines, such as Asus ROG or Lenovo Legion, have sold between 1 and 2 million.

AMD’s demand may seem unrealistic. However, indeed, this Xbox project would perhaps be closer to a Nintendo Switch or Sony’s famous PSP, where, being linked to such a powerful brand, its reach could be greater.

But this is pure speculation.

What seems to be the case, while waiting for an official confirmation, is that the Xbox Handheld project, in a fairly early stage of development, has been cancelled, and we may never see it.
