Rumors are pointing to 2027 as the possible year we could see a new generation, but the current situation of component shortages and speculation around parts such as RAM and SSDs calls that estimate into question. Some reports suggest it could launch later in order to avoid spikes in the prices of essential components.

Various outlets, including a NeoGAF thread published by Kepler2, are speculating about the following specifications for the future PS6:

  • RAM: Up to 30 GB of GDDR7
  • PlayStation 6 handheld: 24 GB, top-tier for handheld devices
  • Memory configuration: May be arranged in special configurations to maximize bandwidth up to 640 GB/s
