Following the State of Play live stream in February, it’s fair to say that the PlayStation community is gearing up for some extremely enticing gaming opportunities in the year ahead. A range of updates and reveals were shared on the highly anticipated live stream, but it’s the upcoming releases that we’re going to focus on in this particular article.
For PlayStation gamers, new and improved gaming products have always gone down well. Today, though, the promise of fresh titles is perhaps met with even more excitement than usual due to the issues around supply that blighted the latest PlayStation release.
Is mobile gaming a competitor to slow PlayStation releases?
In other areas of gaming, things have generally gone more smoothly. For example, in the mobile category, gamers have been treated to exciting multiplayer social deduction releases like Among Us, alongside having the opportunity to explore a variety of popular browser game products. The iGaming industry has also witnessed dramatic growth thanks to authentic Vegas Online Casino experiences that offer fresh takes on much-loved products, such as Bonus Poker Deluxe, alongside innovative themed slot releases like Cubee, a game that takes players on a time travel adventure.
These titles have kept the mobile gaming community satisfied, while many PlayStation gamers have been trying to get their hands on the latest Sony console before they can even consider assessing the games they want. As such, some people are playing catch-up today, perhaps by working their way through some of yesteryear’s options. New releases are on the horizon, though.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at four exciting upcoming releases in the year ahead.
Resident Evil 4 remake will be huge
One title that is certainly getting gamers excited is the Resident Evil 4 Remake, a release that is essentially the reimagining of the much-loved original. A new storyline is expected to add another layer to this exhilarating product, alongside the dramatically improved PlayStation 5 graphics that will showcase the remake in the best way possible. You can certainly expect bloodshed in this one, too. As for a potential release date, March 24 appears to be on the cards.
Tchia is a potential indie gem
Expected to be released near the end of March, Tchia promises to take gamers on an unforgettable journey that has been inspired by New Caledonia. An open-world title with glorious tropical elements and eye-catching visuals, Awaceb, the game’s developer, appears to have nailed this particular product. Even away from the game’s enticing open-world aspect, the abilities provide some additional intrigue, with soul jumping enabling Tchia, the game’s main character, to take control of animals and items.

For fans of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor appears to be a game worth getting excited about. Expected to come to the fore on April 28, the follow-up to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will pull in big audiences, particularly given the game’s epic storyline. Although the plot hasn’t been fully revealed yet, a teaser suggests that Cal’s lightsaber has been stolen by a dangerous rival.
Final Fantasy 16 could be a masterpiece
One of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, alongside the likes of Diablo 4 which is also expected to come out in June, Final Fantasy 16 will evidently be a hugely popular RPG release. With a new story focussing on a planet at war, it’s up to you and your lone character to engage in combat and save the world.
