After two box office hits with Super Mario, Nintendo is surely exploring which of its franchises could work on the big screen. Samus Aran might be next to make the jump.

The VScooper, a film industry insider, claims that Nintendo is currently pitching a movie based on Metroid. Apparently, Sony and Universal are both bidding for the rights.

There’s no further information available, and considering this is still in very early stages, it could end up going nowhere—or the rights could be acquired by a different player altogether.

Remember, The Legend of Zelda movie is set to release next year, with Sony involved.
