Sony Santa Monica is reportedly developing a new God of War game—this time, a 2.5D Metroidvania-style spin-off set in ancient Greece. According to Tom Henderson, the project is much smaller in scale than previously expected. Jeff Grubb has also backed the claim. Moreover, the game is being developed under the supervision of Santa Monica and Mega Cat Studios is involved. Blasphemous is a great influence fir this project.
This would run parallel to the studio’s ongoing work on the sequel to Ragnarök and Cory Barlog’s new IP. Rumors have also persisted about potential remasters of the classic God of War titles.
With a 40-minute State of Play scheduled for today, we might catch our first glimpse of this side project—alongside possible updates on Resident Evil 9.
Thanks, Tom Henderson and IG.
