According to a report on investor news site Trader’s Web, Nintendo could be developing a new handheld codenamed ‘MH’*.

No more information was shared on the report and Dr. Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games, has quickly clarified that this report is “just” a hypothetical scenario:

That Morgan Stanley Japan note on Nintendo does NOT mean a portable console or the name ‘MH’ is confirmed. They are picturing a scenario. Such ‘rich’ forward-looking analysis and also the wording is standard in investor notes. I know because I read *tons* of them.

Take this with tons of salt, but, you know, “where there is smoke there is fire” . Nintendo developing a new handheld system is not a crazy idea.

*The acronym MH has no relation to Monster Hunter, we must emphasize.
