Our colleagues at androidpolice.com came a few days ago with a surprising exclusive: Qualcomm, the famous company behind semiconductor components for laptops, smartphones, and other devices, would be developing a Switch-like Android console.
According to the report, the device would feature detachable controllers (like the Joy-Con), an SD card slot, Android 12 with a customized launcher, and full support for Google’s suite of Play apps and services. Furthermore, the sources suggest that the Epic Games Store app could be available for the launch of the console, which revives rumors about Epic’s development of this app.
But that’s not all: 5G and a 6,000mAh battery will be also present (the presence of this battery has been corroborated by XDA’s editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahman).
The same Rahman tweeted a few days ago that the screen could be 6.65-inches, with a resolution of at least 1080p (the Switch’s screen is 6.2-inches and runs at 720p).
Finally, Qualcomm’s current target is to launch this new Switch-like device in Q1 of 2022, so stay tuned until then!
