As you know, the original Destiny game was exclusive to consoles, but according to the latest rumors, this is going to change and the sequel will also be released on PC.
The sources from NeoGAF and Kotaku state that Destiny 2 is being developed by Bungie on consoles, while Vicarious Visions are helping out and working on a PC port of this desired iteration of the Destiny universe.
Another interesting point here is that it seems that Destiny 2 (slated for a late 2017 release) would suppose a fresh start for the IP, since Activison and Bungie don’t want the sequel to feel like an expansion. For this reason, we would find more open playspaces that incorporate towns, outposts, etc into more common areas. Besides, major narrative changes are on board for Destiny 2 as shinobi602, from NeoGAF, describes:
Major focus is going to be on the Cabal & Saturn. Saturn is a playspace is set to be bigger than all of the playspaces currently implemented in the game combined. This is in large part of the scale of playspaces being redesigned, so it’ll be both bigger & denser with activities. There’s a reason Guardians take the fight to Saturn.
New races & factions are planned. No idea on whats happening with regards to classes however. New enemies within factions are also going to be introduced. Take the Sions for the Cabal for example – they are going to get fleshed out in Destiny 2.
Stay tuned, it seems we are going to read a lot of interesting info about Destiny 2 in the coming months.
