[Rumor] New Donkey Kong game being developed by Super Mario Odyssey team (Nintendo EPD)

2021 marks the fortieth anniversary of Nintendo’s most famous ape. Donkey Kong turns 40 and, apparently, Nintendo is preparing a gift in the form of a new video game after a few years of absence.

According to rumors coming from both Nintendo Life and the famous leaker Zippo, Nintendo EPD is reportedly developing a new Donkey Kong video game. This internal Nintendo studio is developer, among others, of successful games such as Super Mario Odyssey, the recent Bowser’s Fury, or the iconic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

However, the sources of this rumor do not agree on the focus of the game. While one source says it will be a 3D game, the other claims it will be a Donkey Kong 2D (or 2.5D) game.
