Sony continues to patent new features and new devices with an eye on the next-gen and PS5.
A new patent by the company shows what appears to be a new Virtual Reality controller, very similar to Valve Index, as you can see:
This feature is not new in VR controllers for PC, but it’s the first time Sony would release an VR controller where users would be able to use their fingers with these sensors to simulate movements, such as picking up objects.

This controller device is worn on the hand of a user and includes: a plurality of sensor units that detect the fingers of the user; and a sensor support part that supports the sensor units. The sensor support part supports the sensor units so that the distance between adjacent sensor units can be changed.
