As you already know, not so long ago SNK-Playmore filed a trademark for “The Rhythm of Fighter” that finally ended up being a (surprise!) rhythm-mobile game.
Apparently, SNK-Playmore won’t let the franchise rest so easily. Last month, the company registered the name “KOF” with the Japanese Patent and Trademark office. As usual, it has been filed under class 9 (video games), 28 (accessories and parts for video game machines) and 41 (online games).
Although “The King of Fighters” trademark is still active (it will expire in 2018), the company has decided to register this new trademark tied with the popular saga. This opens a lot of possibilities such as an HD collection, a reboot, or simply a new sequel.
We will see if the classic fighting saga has a comeback in the near future.
