Ubisoft is far from what it used to be a few years ago, but that doesn’t change the fact that Assassin’s Creed remains one of its flagship franchises.

As you already know, there are multiple entries in development, and one of them is Hexe. The game has gone through leadership changes, with one of its directors leaving, and development has been reduced by 50 staff members. These professionals have been moved to the Ubisoft Interproject Team, a group made up of developers not currently assigned to a specific project. Sources close to the project reveal that these workers are expected to secure placement in a Ubisoft project within a three-month period, or they could face redundancy.

Hexe was expected to release in June 2027, but sources suggest that scaling down the team by 50 developers may be an attempt to cut costs and potentially delay the title to holiday 2027.

This Assassin’s Creed entry will lean into witchcraft themes, featuring a protagonist with scientific knowledge that allows the character to understand things like smoke bombs—something that would appear as witchcraft to ordinary people.

Ubisoft adjusting. Nothing unusual these days.

Thanks, IG.
